Brian Baldwin is an Assistant Professor of Science Education at Kean University in the New Jersey Center for Science Technology and Mathematics Education (NJCSTME). Previously, he was Assistant Professor of Science and Math Education at SUNY-Empire State College in New York City. He also holds courtesy appointments as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at both Columbia University; Teachers College, and Hofstra University.
At Kean, he teaches courses in science pedagogy, technology integration, and educational evaluation. He also conducts workshops for in-service teachers in many aspects of science education: content-specific pedagogy, technology integration, and science for out-of-field teachers. He has also consulted with school districts on science lab renovation designs to promote constructivist and inquiry-based active learning environments.
Dr. Baldwin currently researches technology integration practices in both K-12 science education and science teacher education; preservice vs. inservice teacher education; hybrid and online course design; and professional development for science education teachers and programs. He has presented current research at the national conferences of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST), Association for Science Teacher Education (ASTE), and the Association for the Advancement in Computing in Education (AACE, E-Learn Conference). He holds degrees of Doctor of Education (Science Education) from Columbia University; Teachers College, Master of Education (Secondary Education) and Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) from Ohio University.
